Jota-Kena is focusing on women’s denim jackets in a choice of three styles –cropped, oversized and extra-length –with yellow gold, antique silver or vintage brass buttons(made from nickel-free alloy). The concept allows women to “design” their own denim jackets as an extension of their personal style.
“We invite clients to make an appointment to visit us at our Cape Town studio where they can enjoy being part of the design process of their own Jota-Kena BespokeDenim jacket that expresses who they are. We will work with them to conceptualise a one-of-a-kind denim jacket, which is then made up just for them and delivered within four to six weeks. International orders and consultations (via email, Skype or telecon) are welcome too,”says Keziah Swinford, who founded Jota-Kena with her sister, Tanith. The approach is therefore personal and considered. The choice of embroidery includes four categories, pop art, typography, botanicals and regalia. “We decided on these creative pillars based on the things that inspire us and designs that won’t date,” she says.
